Futsal on International Migrants Day

What is futsal? It's an indoor form of football (soccer), its name derived from the Portuguese futebol de salão and the Spanish fútbol sala/de salón (football in a room).

It is played by teams of just 5 players, one of whom would be the goalkeeper. Including substitutes, up to 7 players are permitted in a team. A smaller ball with less bounce is used, coloured in a way that contrasts with indoor colours.

To mark International Migrants Day, set by the UN for 18 December, various non-governmental organisations involved with migrant workers jointly organised a number of programs. One of them was a friendly futsal competition on Sunday, 16 December.
